This adapter is built for the Serial Port 1 on the base of the GameCube. Like the SD2SP2 it provides a SD Card interface that can be accessed by SWISS. This adapter may make sense if you are using a GameCube that lacks a SP2 port.
Compatibility Note:
SP1 is not universally compatible with all SD Card brands (SanDisk will not work at all) You may need to find a different card or brand to get functional with this adapter.
This adapter also lacks the OR logic gate found in SP2 devices which may being down compatibility with all titles.
There may be other compatibility issues when used in conjunction with devices that connect to IPL like PicoBoot
